Account and Data Deletion Policy

You have the right to request the permanent deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it at any time. This page explains the process, what data will be deleted, and what data cannot be deleted.

How to Request Deletion

Option 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)

You can delete your account instantly and automatically within the MATgenie app:

  1. Open MATgenie on your mobile device.
  2. Navigate to Settings (from the Side Drawer).
  3. Tap on Delete Account.
  4. Confirm your choice. Your account will be immediately deactivated and your personal data anonymized or deleted.

Option 2: Email Request

If you cannot access the app, you may request deletion via email. We will verify your identity before processing the request. This manual process may take up to 30 days.

We will send a confirmation email to you before processing the deletion via this method.

What This Deletion Includes

When you request the deletion of your account, we will permanently delete all personal data that we control from our active systems. This includes:

  • Your user account details (Name, Email Address, Profile Picture)
  • Your Phone Number (if you provided one)
  • Your link to third-party providers (Google, Apple, or Firebase identities)
  • Your saved chat history will be permanently anonymized, breaking any link between the content and your identity.

Limitations: Data We Cannot Delete

1. AI Chat Data (OpenAI)

To provide personalized responses and enhance our AI chatbot functionality, your in-app messages, transcribed audio, and your Name are sent to our third-party AI service provider, OpenAI, to generate responses.

Once this data is sent and processed by OpenAI, it is no longer in our control and we cannot reverse the process or delete this data from their systems. These services do not provide a mechanism for us to identify or delete specific data sent via their APIs.

2. Advertising Attribution Data (Meta/Facebook)

Our application uses the Meta SDK to attribute app installs to marketing campaigns. This process involves sending standardized device identifiers (like your Advertising ID) to Meta.

Because this data is anonymized and aggregated by Meta for reporting purposes, we cannot manually delete your attribution history from Meta's records when you delete your account with us, as it is managed solely by their privacy policies.

3. App Analytics Data (Google Firebase Analytics)

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with our app. This data (such as screen views, session length, and device models) is aggregated and associated with anonymous device identifiers rather than your personal account.

Because it is aggregated for statistical purposes, we cannot single out and delete your specific usage history from our analytics dashboard once it has been collected.

Processing Time

For in-app deletions (Option 1), the process is immediate. For email requests (Option 2), we will process the deletion within 30 days of verifying your identity.
